I purchased a large quantity of these coins from one of my dealers.  The coins were found near the Danube river area, in the Balkans. From the little information I could find on the internet, many of these types of rings come from the Danubian region.
Before the introduction of struck coinage, these rings were often used as the first form of currency (hence the term Proto "First" money) in Celtic lands in the Danube region, France, England, and Ireland. In addition to being bartered, some were purportedly worn as jewelry.
It is my understanding that the ones that have knobs on them, are excessivly large or are ribbed or have some design work are the most valuable. There are also varieties that are bell shaped, star shaped, interlocking rings, triangular shaped and even propeller shaped. Please do your research on these, they are so interesting. If you find anything you would like to share, please drop me a note.
I did not keep any of these coins. I did not search through these coins. You are purchasing these coins exactly as I received them.
