Up for auction here is a great item for collectors of Silver coins and British currency! This is a 1990 United Kingdom 5 Pence Silver 2 Coin Proof Set. Again, set includes TWO (2) Sterling Silver .925 5 Pence Proof Coins. Set was issued to commemorate the introduction of a new, smaller five pence coin in 1990. The Royal Mint issued only 35,000 of these limited edition sets, making this a nice investment for interested collectors!
The original (larger) 5 Pence coin has a weight of 5.65 Grams and a diameter of 23.59mm. The new five pence coin has a weight of 3.25 Grams and a diameter of 18mm. Again, both coins are .925 Sterling Silver. Coins are in Proof Condition, have not been removed from their plastic holdes. Coin features startling, uninterrupted Proof surfaces, with mirror-like finish and raised frosty detail, along with brilliant reflective luster. Set ships with Original Mint Case shown in the pictures below, along with a double sided certificate of authenticity/information sheet.
