Item Description

I recently acquired another large batch of rare and high-quality Spanish Colonial coins.
Please take a look at my other auctions as well, as I have a nice selection of silver coins for sale from any/all of the following mints: Potosi Bolivia, Santiago Chile, Mexico City, Lima, Peru, Guatemala City, Popoyan and Bogota Colombia, and several of the peninsular mints in Spain. They range in size from cuartillo (1/4 real) to 8 reales (cobs and pillar dollars), including several from the famous 1654 'La Capitana' and 1681 'Isla Del Muerto' (Consolacion) shipwrecks.

Next up is a nice 1668-E Potosi Bolivia 8 reales silver cob, struck during the reign of Spain's King Carlos II (1665-1700), and believed to have been recovered from the Consolacion, a Spanish treasure galleon that was attacked by pirates and sunk (scuttled) by the crew off the coast of Ecuador in 1681.
The site is often referred to as the Isla del Muerto shipwreck, since this was the nearest named point of reference. Still significant detail present, with a reasonably clear '68' date on the cross side, as well as both lions and castles'. The pillars side shows another '68' date, as well as 2 'P' mintmarks and an assayer mark 'E'. A real piece of pirate treasure! Unfortunately, there is no COA with this coin...

KM 28. CY 7538. Sedwick P37b. Weight = 25.4 grams. Estimated as Grade 2. Assayer 'E' = Antonio de Ergueta, active 1652-1678.

Please pay by PERSONAL CHECK, CASHIERS CHECK or MONEY ORDER, as Paypal fees are very high. For EUROPEAN customers I would prefer payment in Euro to my account at BBVA in Madrid, based on the exchange rate of the day less ~ 1%. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING.

Shipments to any US buyer costs $5.00, which includes (mandatory) insurance, via US Mail. All shipments to international buyers will go via Registered Mail, Global Priority Mail or Global Express Mail (at my discretion) for US 10.00. I will gladly combine lots for reduced shipping fees.

As always, my coins come with a 7 day, 100% money back guarantee (less shipping costs) if item is not as described.
